What are courses in Monotree?

Courses are the training part of the Monotree employee app, a mobile LMS made for people who do not sit at a desk. A course is a series of short chapters with text, images and video, and a chapter can end with a quiz the employee has to pass.

Courses are targeted like everything else in Monotree. The kitchen gets allergen training, the bar gets the cocktail course, and everyone gets fire safety. Employees find their courses in the Academy in the app, with their progress and any deadlines. A course can also be a step in an onboarding flow.

When a course matters for compliance, a certificate can be issued on completion. Certificates can expire, and the employee is asked to retake the course before that happens.

Questions about courses

  1. Is Monotree an LMS?

    Yes. Monotree includes a learning management system made for the phone: courses with chapters and quizzes, onboarding flows and journeys, certificates with expiry, and completion statistics. It is part of the same app as chat, news and handbooks, so employees only have one place to go.

  2. How does AI quiz generation work?

    When you have written a chapter, Monotree can generate quiz questions from its content in one click. You review and adjust the questions before the course is published.

  3. Can we issue certificates?

    Yes. A certificate can be issued when a course is completed or assigned manually. You set how many months it is valid, employees are asked to renew it before it expires, and you can pull a list of certificates that are about to expire.

  4. Which question types can a quiz have?

    True or false, multiple choice, putting items in the right order, and matching pairs. You decide how many wrong answers are allowed and whether questions are shuffled.

  5. Can we use training content from other providers?

    Yes. Monotree has content integrations with providers of ready-made training, listed on the integrations page. Ask us about the provider you use.

  6. Do we pay extra for courses?

    No. Monotree has one price per user, and it covers every feature including courses, along with AI, integrations, personal onboarding and live chat support. There are no modules or add-ons.

  7. Can employees use courses on both iPhone and Android?

    Yes. Your employees use Monotree as your own branded app on iPhone and Android, and administrators manage content and settings in a web-based CMS.
