What is News in Monotree?

News is the official channel in the Monotree employee app. HQ and managers publish announcements with text, images, video and documents, and employees find them in a feed on the front page of the app. Conversation between colleagues happens on the social walls.

Every announcement is targeted. A new menu goes to the kitchen and the floor, a change in payroll dates goes to everyone, and a message for one location stays in that location. Employees are not asked to read things that do not concern them.

For the messages that must not be missed, an announcement can require a confirmation. Employees tap to confirm they have read it, and you see who has and who has not.

Questions about News

  1. Can employees comment on news?

    You decide per announcement. Switch comments on when you want questions and reactions, and off when the message is for information only.

  2. Can we see who has read an announcement?

    Yes. Every announcement shows how many employees have read it. If you require a confirmation, employees tap to confirm they have read it, and you can see who has confirmed.

  3. Can we send news to specific departments only?

    Yes. An announcement is targeted at the departments, job titles or custom groups you choose. An announcement without groups goes to the whole company.

  4. How do employees without a work email get the news?

    In the app on their own phone. They get a push notification when something is published for them, so no work email or computer is needed.

  5. Can announcements be scheduled?

    Yes. An announcement can be saved as a draft, scheduled for a date and time, or published right away. It can also be pinned to the top of the feed for a period you choose.

  6. Can other systems publish news?

    Yes. Announcements can be created through the Open API and the MCP server, and Monotree can notify your other systems when an announcement is published.

  7. Do we pay extra for News?

    No. Monotree has one price per user, and it covers every feature including News, along with AI, integrations, personal onboarding and live chat support. There are no modules or add-ons.

  8. Can employees use News on both iPhone and Android?

    Yes. Your employees use Monotree as your own branded app on iPhone and Android, and administrators manage content and settings in a web-based CMS.
