What are handbooks in Monotree?

Handbooks are the knowledge base of the Monotree employee app, where your policies, guides and standard operating procedures (SOPs) live. A handbook is a set of chapters with text, images, video and documents, and it replaces the binder in the back office, the shared drive nobody can find, and the PDF that was out of date when it was sent. Recipes and allergen guides in a kitchen, product info in a store, safety rules in a warehouse: whatever your people need to know is one search away.

Employees search across all the handbooks they have access to and get the answer on their phone, in the middle of a shift. The search also reads the text inside attached PDF and Word documents, and AI Chat answers questions from the same handbooks.

Each handbook is targeted at the groups it concerns, and when you update a chapter, everyone has the new version at once. You can see which handbooks are read, which are not, and what employees search for.

    Yes. The text in attached PDF and Word documents is included in the search, so an employee finds the answer even when it sits in an attachment.

  3. Can we move our existing handbook into Monotree?

    Yes. Existing PDF and Word documents can be attached to a chapter and are searchable right away, and we help you move your content over as part of the personal onboarding.

  4. Can different departments have different handbooks?

    Yes. Every handbook is targeted at the departments, job titles or custom groups you choose, and a handbook without groups is shown to everyone.

  5. How do we know whether handbooks are being read?

    Statistics show the most and least read handbooks, the reading time, and the terms employees search for most. That tells you both what works and which answers are missing.

  6. Do we pay extra for handbooks?
