What are development surveys in Monotree?

Development surveys are the tool in Monotree for 1-on-1 and yearly development conversations between a manager and an employee. HQ defines the questions once, and every manager gets the same structure to hold the conversation by.

The manager goes through the questions together with the employee and writes down what was agreed as a development plan for that employee. Unlike satisfaction surveys, these conversations are never anonymous, since the point is the individual.

Everything is saved. At the next conversation, the manager and the employee start from what was agreed last time and not from a blank page.

    A satisfaction survey is anonymous and measures how a whole team or company is doing over time. A development survey is a named conversation between one employee and their manager, and it ends with a written plan for that employee.

    A development survey is a structured 1-on-1 conversation between a manager and an employee, often held once or twice a year. In Monotree, the manager goes through a fixed set of questions with the employee and writes a development plan, and both the answers and the plan are saved for next time.

  3. Are development surveys anonymous?

    No. They are conversations about one employee, so they are never anonymous. Satisfaction surveys are the anonymous tool in Monotree.

  4. How often should we hold development conversations?

    That is up to you. Most companies hold them once or twice a year. In Monotree you set the rhythm, and a new round starts automatically.
