Sideways and Monotree

Sideways writes video-first compliance training for hospitality: Food Safety Levels 1 to 3, Health and Safety Levels 1 and 2, Diversity and Inclusion, Sexual Harassment and Life Skills. The lessons are short, made by subject experts and followed by a quiz, so a shift worker can finish one between covers rather than sitting through a half-day course.

Once Sideways is turned on for your app, the courses appear in Monotree for an admin to import, one at a time, into your own academy. Each one arrives as a draft you publish when it suits you, and from then on it behaves like the rest of your training: you decide who it is for, put it in an onboarding journey and follow completion in the same overview.

Questions about Sideways in Monotree

  1. Can we edit the Sideways courses?

    No. The lessons and quizzes stay as Sideways wrote them, which is what keeps a compliance course worth the certificate. You decide when a course is published, who it is for and whether it sits in a journey.

  2. Do the courses come in our language?

    A course is only offered to your app when it exists in one of the languages you have turned on, so your teams never open a course they cannot read.

  3. Can we mix Sideways courses with our own training?

    Yes. They sit in the same academy as the courses you write yourself, and you assign both the same way, including inside an onboarding journey.

  4. Do people get a certificate?

    Yes. A completed Sideways course gives the same certificate as your own training, with the Sideways stamp on it, and it is stored with everything else that person has finished.

  5. What does Sideways cost?

    The courses are licensed from Sideways, who will quote for your sites. Monotree charges nothing extra to carry them: delivering them in your app is part of your plan.

  6. What happens if we stop using Sideways?

    Turn it off and the courses are no longer offered for import. The ones you already imported stay in your academy, and so does the record of who completed what.
