Hooked sold its first portion of fish and chips from a blue food truck in 2016. The concept was built on friendship, hard work and the idea that good seafood should be for all Danes, or as Hooked puts it, fish for the people. The restaurants are informal on purpose: the company wants to do away with the idea that a fish restaurant needs white tablecloths and silver cutlery.
Most of the restaurants are in Copenhagen, in Nørrebro, Frederiksberg, Østerbro, Kødbyen, Carlsberg Byen, Christianshavn and the city center. There is also a Hooked at Broens Gadekøkken, one at Skovshoved Havn in Charlottenlund and one in the Banken food hall in Aarhus. Every summer the food trucks tour festivals and events around the country. Hooked Group also includes Burgerbaren, and The Jeffery is on the way.
The crew is young and lifts together, whether someone has been there a week or a year. Happy staff make for better guests, so the service is meant to be warm and unfussy, and the company would rather try something and learn from it than play safe. Shifts are flexible and staff swap them between themselves.
